FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Got a question? We’re here to answer. If yours isn’t here, call us.
How long does it take to build a deck?
Most residential decks land in the 1–3 week range, depending on size, access and custom details. After a site visit, we’ll confirm a clear timeline.
How much does a deck cost?
It depends on the square footage, the material, how high the deck is, the stairs and the railing style. Our estimates are free, with straightforward, itemized pricing.
Do I need a permit to build a deck?
Often, yes. Requirements vary with the height, size and placement of the deck. We help you understand the permit process, and we build to code.
Composite or wood: which is better?
Composite boards are made of recycled plastic and wood fibres. They are low-maintenance and easy to clean, because they don’t need painting or sealing, but they can cost more.
Wood is the traditional choice and usually costs less. It is easy to customize, because you can paint or stain it to match your home, but it needs sealing and staining every few years. In the end it comes down to personal preference and budget.
What deck material is best for Toronto’s climate?
Toronto’s freeze-thaw winters and summer sun are tough on outdoor spaces. Composite is a great fit if you want low maintenance, while cedar is ideal if you love a natural look. We’ll recommend one based on your goals and budget.
What is the least expensive deck railing?
Aluminum. It is strong and durable, and less expensive than glass. Glass railing is usually the most expensive type, chosen for its unobstructed view.
What does your warranty cover?
Our 5-year warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. If something goes wrong within those five years, call us and we’ll book an appointment to fix it.
How do I clean a composite deck?
Sweep it first to remove loose dirt and debris. Then use a power washer on a low-pressure setting, testing it on a spot nobody will see. Start at the far end of the deck and work back towards the house with slow, steady strokes, and rinse off any soap with clean water when you finish.
Do you design the deck too?
Yes. Tell us how you want to use your backyard and we’ll design the deck, fence, pergola or gazebo around it, with you. We work with your vision, budget and timeline.
Do you repair old decks?
Yes. We repair and maintain decks and porches as well as building new ones. Call or send the form with a short description, and we’ll come and take a look.
What areas do you serve?
We’re based in Brampton and build across the GTA: Toronto (including Etobicoke, North York and Scarborough), Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Pickering, Ajax and Whitby.
