What’s under the boards.

A deck is only as good as its frame. This is one of ours from below. Every deck is built to local building codes, and when yours needs a permit, we help you through the process.

Underneath one of Evenstar's raised decks: a charcoal composite fascia, joist ends, a timber beam, a timber post fixed to it with a black steel bracket, and two angled knee braces.

Plan your deck

Sketch it in a minute.

Choose a height, the boards and the railing, add stairs or privacy, and take the sketch to your free estimate.

Each choice updates the drawing of the deck and the summary below it.

Drawing of the deck you are planning

Raised deck, grey composite boards, glass railing, with stairs.

Height

A walk-out deck on posts and beams. It needs a railing, and often a permit: we help with that.

Low to the lawn, with a broad step down.

Boards

Composite needs no painting or sealing, and won’t warp, split or rot. It costs more up front.

Composite needs no painting or sealing, and won’t warp, split or rot. It costs more up front.

Usually costs less than composite. Durable, and resists rot and insects; seal or stain it every few years.

Naturally rot-resistant, and ideal if you love a natural look. Seal or stain it every few years.

Railing

An unobstructed view. Usually the most expensive railing.

Strong, durable and low-maintenance, and less expensive than glass.

The classic look. Stain and seal it along with a wood deck.

Add

A sketch to start the conversation, not a design: we measure and draw it properly at the site visit.

Sam did a great job on our deck. He was flexible and changed plans for us mid-project. It’s a big deck (1300 sq ft) on three levels, and it took much longer than initially estimated but came in on budget. We will use Evenstar again.

Sam was friendly, prompt and professional. He did not try to sell me on an upgrade, but listened. He could see quickly, how simple the job was and gave me a reasonable estimate and timeline.

I was blown away by the look of my deck and very impressed.
