Railings and stairs

The parts of a deck you touch every day. We install code-compliant railings and design the stairs with the deck, not after it.

About railings and stairs

Simple and functional, or something more decorative: the railing sets the character of a deck, and it is the part that keeps people safe. We build in glass, aluminum and wood, on decks, stairs, porches and landings.

Stairs are designed with the deck: the height, the width of the steps and a railing sturdy enough for everyday traffic, so they are safe and easy to use.

Good to know

Before you choose.

Glass
An unobstructed view, and it won’t rot or warp. Usually the most expensive railing.
Aluminum
Strong, durable and low-maintenance: it won’t rust or rot. Less expensive than glass.
Wood
The classic, warm look, easy to customize. It needs staining and sealing, like a wood deck.

Questions

Questions we hear most.

All questions

What is the least expensive deck railing?

Aluminum. It is strong and durable, and less expensive than glass. Glass railing is usually the most expensive type, chosen for its unobstructed view.

Do I need a permit to build a deck?

Often, yes. Requirements vary with the height, size and placement of the deck. We help you understand the permit process, and we build to code.

How much does a deck cost?

It depends on the square footage, the material, how high the deck is, the stairs and the railing style. Our estimates are free, with straightforward, itemized pricing.

What does your warranty cover?

Our 5-year warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. If something goes wrong within those five years, call us and we’ll book an appointment to fix it.
